RegBeacon illuminates the path for JWG’s third decade
It is with pride that we publish the first update from our third decade of working collaboratively to enable better, faster, cheaper and safer regulatory change within Financial Services.
It is staggering to step back and look at the breadth of our research agenda. Last year we dove into AML, Surveillance, Reporting, Reference Data, Brexit transparency, Conduct, Culture and Accountability regimes like SM&CR and Ethics. All the while we have been tracking big shifts that are taking place in risk management (Operational resilience, ESG) and trading with the dawn of MiFID III (gasp) this year.
In 2019 JWG ran 30 round tables with hundreds of professionals from 40+ financial institutions, global regulators & leading technologists, held 2 webinars, published 2 research reports. We also feel fortunate to have delivered a successful global RegTech conference before we all had to move to a more digital approach.
In this edition we cover:
2019 by the numbers: JWG consumed 6,188 documents globally from 284 regulatory issuers. Now that is 204,469 pages! Think about this, 80,000 of those pages were issued in the last quarter of the year and this quarter we are on track for 57,893 pages.
2020 RegTech overview: What we learnt from our fifth successful conference in February along with JWG’s conclusions about the agenda at the start of this decade. We believe that 6 themes will dominate the agenda and reflected on what this means for the RegTech agenda, the lifeblood of compliance.
JWG Special Interest Groups: our high trust communities of the regulated, regulators and technologists, has quickly adapted to collaborating in as a safe online space and are pushing ahead to define ‘what good looks like’ for:
- KYC (CMS): AML registry data, ICO PET Consultation, KYC utilities 2.0, MiFID III Investor protection
- Surveillance (TSS): SM&CR surveillance guidance covering AI governance, culture, MAD/MAR II & MiFID III
- Reg reporting (RRDS): We continue to help shape the Transparency 2.0 dialogue for EMIR Article 9, CFTC Part 43 and 45, CPMI/IOSCO standards and MiFID III transparency.
RegDelta Update: We have exciting news about latest system developments and a new global, strategic partnership with ING.
RegTech Council: the time is now! Read why the industry needs this public/private forum, what the benefits are for membership and its innovative plans & planned projects and help make it a reality.
JWG Research update: We pride ourselves in tackling the biggest regulatory challenges in ways that enable FS practitioners to draw meaningful insights. We have two research papers due shortly on surveillance, one on the global RegTech marketplace and our most recent effort on mitigating systemic infrastructure risk.
