JWG Participation notes
Session Title: Realising the Benefits of Digitalisation
Format: Virtual panel
Time: Wednesday 17th March, 15:30-16:15 (45 min)
Through the development of the Common Domain Model in 2020, together with the more recent initiative to create a Legal Clause Library, ISLA is developing a series of digital building blocks that will drive future efficiencies across the post trade arena. The session will also explore how these building blocks will lead to the wider use of DLT, smart contracts and tokenisation, technologies that have the potential to transform the market, particularly in the realms of connectivity and collateral optimisation.

Set against a backdrop of constant product and regulatory evolution, ISLA’s Post Trade Conference has become a point of continuity over the years. Delivered virtually for the very first time, this year’s event will be an opportunity for post trade and operations groups to gather since Brexit and the implementation of SFTR. Set over two days, the ambitious agenda will look to reflect on how both foreseen and unforeseen business, trading, product and regulatory drivers, are shaping the current and future post trade world. Drawing upon ISLA’s extensive technical and product specific working groups, as well as industry partners and fellow associations, themes will include the implications and challenges of delivering post trade in 2021 against the aforementioned factors, the operational considerations of aligning securities lending with an ESG investment framework, new markets both in terms of geography as well as product innovation, and finally the rolling impact of digitalisation of our markets and financial services more broadly.
ISLA’s Post Trade Conference regularly attracts over 300 delegates as in person event, and is expected to attract significantly more as it goes virtual this year. The conference is focused primarily at groups and individuals involved in the daily operational and post trade flows associated with the securities finance business. An interesting mix of keynote presentations, industry updates, and panel discussions; all designed to explore the various business and regulatory drivers affecting the post trade environment and how they might shape the future.
